Busyness...

Multiple alarms sound as I frantically try to turn them all off at once. After a significant struggle, I manage to roll (literally) out of bed and onto my floor. After a quick shower and bite, I'm off to face the world. Places to be, things to do, people to see. Work to accomplish, papers to overcome, assignments to hand in. Off to classes, tutorials, tutor sessions, work, libraries. It seems as if every waking moment is occupied with a task. Too little time to accomplish all, one can only wish for 30 hours in a day.

Why are we so busy?! Is it all necessary and essential to our survival, or is it self-induced, something we create to make ourselves seem busy and thus, significant?! I think we really need time sometimes, to just sit back, and really enjoy life. It's something that I've been lacking, and I think really contributes to my stress and my sad times.

I know it's something that many people are experiencing as we face the pressures of midterms, piled-up work, relationships, among others. I think this stress that we accumulate leads us to ungodly behaviour. I mean, how can we shine as Christians and be an example when we're consumed about worrying about our next task, and our mind is not at ease?!

What did Jesus do when he was stressed? He went to a mountain, or a place of solitude, and he spent time alone in prayer and fasting. I know it's something that I always forget: that in the midst of our daily busy lives, we forget to just take a moment, isolate ourselves from the world, and just re-examine ourselves and spend the time with our Father.

Anyways, just a reminder to all you stressed out people out there. I know I need this constant reminder also. Back to study for my midterm tommorrow. But not before a quick nap, and some me time. G'nite.
