Just a Few Words... "examine yourselves to see if your faith is really genuine. test yourselves. if you cannot tell that Jesus Christ is among you, it means you have failed the test."--2 Corinthians 13:5 (NLT). In the midst of midterms and assignments, I just finished reading the latest book in the Left Behind series, The Remnant, within 4 days. I won't spoil it for anyone yet to read this book, but the nature of the story just urges us to be a testament for Christ Jesus before it's too late. Nothing is more encouraging than having friends tell you that they want to check out church because of what they notice in you, or that you're one of the better people to discuss religion about because you don't argue until "the veins around the neck pop out" or end the discussion because "it's just that way. I'm right." Prayer works. Even if it takes 7 years or more ... On a related note: James* says, "And even when you do ask [for what you want], you don't get it because your whole motive is wrong--you want only what will give you pleasure." My skeptic friend asked me the other day, why I decided that Christianity was real in my search for the truth. I told him that it was really not through scientific proof but rather, proof from others; living testimony of lives changed. Not only so, but through answered prayers. I knew he was going to protest about not having all his prayers answered, but I interjected that of course, if I was to ask for a million dollars, I almost guarantee that God wouldn't give it to me. Why not? I know deep down that I'm being selfish and greedy to want that much money. "What if you ask God for a million dollars so that you can 'donate' it in full?" I knew I would not and even if it would be indirectly donating it to the good of Ontario or to charities (via lotteries or casinos), secretly, I want to win more in exchange...And, James* was right once again. *James 4:3 (NLT) posted by b.p. | 12:00 AM
