Solitude... With my new semester scheduling me a four day weekend, I had a nice Monday off so went by a library by my house to do some readings. Afterwards, I was driving back home and I passed by the pond and saw a bunch of people skating on it. I still had my skates from Friday's skating in my car, so I stopped by and decided to lace 'em up as the sun was just setting and it was a nice afternoon. So there I was, doing some quick sprints around the pond, the background noise consisting of a couple hockey games on the other side and the swishing of my skates. With the cool wind breezing on my face and the blood starting to pump in my legs, I just basked in the splendor of God's creation. It was just me and nobody else. Those of you that know me know that I'm not really a solitude kind of guy. I'm usually immersed with people and usually find a friend, my brother or someone - anyone - to do things with. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I'm afraid of being alone, it's just I prefer to have the company of another. This holidays especially was filled with meetings and get-togethers, group outings and big parties. It was so nice to just be alone and with God and just to do some thinking and just be still. I often forget Psalm 46:10 reminding me to "Be still, and know that I am God." Anyways, my whole family is sick and I think I'm starting to come down with something so I'd better to bed as my Neocitrin kicks in. posted by jamescl | 11:32 PM
