Movie Reviews... I've had a bit more time lately, since I'm not working too much and don't have too many exams or assignments due. Just have to stay on top of readings and work, so everything's going pretty well right now. I've been going over to Rayray and Fontaine's place and staying over two nights a week and we always end up watching movies lately. Here are some reviews: My Big Fat Greek Wedding [4.5/5]: It was a really good movie about the different cultures and inter-culture marraige (between a Greek and non-Greek.) In some ways, them Greeks are a lot like us Chinese. It was a comedic and light film that was fun to watch. Definitely recommended. Bowling For Columbine [3.5/5]: This documentary analyzes gun control (and more specifically, the Columbine school shootings) in the States and compares it to Canada and other countries. It shows the absurdity of their rules and laws regarding guns; so absurd that the movie is actually quite funny. (ie. They show the irony of giving out a free gun for every new bank account opened in a Texas branch. Come on now, giving out a loaded gun in a bank?!!) I personally thought it dragged on a bit at the end, but I still enjoyed it as a whole. Idle Hands [0.5/5]: I think I may have been a bit generous with the ratings here, but I was biased toward Jessica Alba in the movie. She gave it the 0.5 even though they didn't deserve it. Absolutely horrible movie. Horrible. Don't waste your money on it!! America's Sweethearts [4/5]: Again, a bit biased, but this chick flick features John Cusack, Julia Roberts, Catherine Zeta Jones and Bill Murray, among others. Basic storyline: guy and girl supposed to get back together, but guy falls in love with other girl in the proccess, and they live happily ever after. Hmm, where have we seen this before?! I still liked it. Zoolander [4/5]: Yes, I saw Zoolander yet again. It's good if you just finished an exam and want a brainless, yet comedic film. Allright, I think I've been watching way too many movies lately. Oh by the way, I'm heading up to Waterloo this weekend for Lifesong, so let me know if you guys are free Friday afternoon, cause I think I'm going to be in earlier. Have a great week, I'm off to watch *ahem* My Sassy Girl *ahem.* Nites. posted by jamescl | 11:32 PM
