49.9...

Not since the days of disco, rollerskating and obscenely oversized afros have I seen such a phenomenon as the one that I have seen this past weekend. After flirting with astronomical numbers like 75.9 and even, dare I say it, 80.0, gas today sunk to a jaw-dropping 49.9. Yes folks, it's something we'll be telling our kids 40 years later, when due to inflated inflation and super-OPEC cartels, gas will be 3.00 a litre. Then we'll say to them how we remember the good ol' days when gas was under 50 cents, much like the way our parents tell us they remember the times when Coke was only a dime or fried rice only a loonie (or in their versions, $5HK.) And much like the way we roll our eyes at our parents' nostalgic musings about the good ol' times, our kids too shall only roll their eyes as we reminisce.

So anyways, deciding to take advantage of the situation, I went cruising along Habourfront, the sun in my eyes, the wind in my hair, the beats in my car, and good ol' pungent smell of excess gasoline in my tank. (Oh admit it, when gas is cheap, you have to give it a couple extra squeezes, even when it's a full tank, just to milk it for all it's got.) With the world behind me and road mine for the conquering, I cruised the city before stopping back in front of my favourite place to be, (and thus snapping me back to reality), the library.

Ah, today shall be one of those "good ol' days" for the ages.
