Driving Fun... 358 days ago, my brother and I made a bet. He, believing that my driving skills were lacking, confidently declared that within the span of one year, I could not remain accident and ticket free. The wager was 1 bill. And of course, in keeping with my pride, I accepted. So this morning, I was speeding along 16th towards the highway. You know when your mind just wanders, you start humming your favorite EZ Rock tune, and you lose track of the speedometer just a tad. So I was going around 90-100 on a 70 zone that just turned into a 60 zone, leading a pack of cars wth me. And then he came, seemingly out of nowhere. The uniformed police stepped right out in front of my car and gave me the stop sign. I screeched to a stop so close to him that I thought I would hit him as he looked straight at me. That was it. I was done. Caught. 5 years of clean accident/ticket-free driving down the drain. Demerits and dollars would be deducted, and more importantly, I'd lost the bet. With one swift motion, he waved me forward. And then waved me on. I looked at him disbelievingly as he waved me past again, and with his other free hand, pointed to the souped-up Acura behind me and waved him over to the rabid pack of hungry-ticketing cops. I was free. 7 more days Jus, and I'm up a bill. Score! posted by jamescl | 10:04 PM
