Softball...

So last night I was driving home around 8pm listening to AM640 and listening to the talk show. The discussion was about an employer of a local grocery market store that had called in and this guy was absolutely hardcore. Hardcore what you ask? Hardcore softball of course. This guy was the epitome of a hardcore softball coach that wanted to win win win at any and every cost. He claimed that there was an "asian SOB that owned another competing grocery market" that whooped him in the local grocery softball league every year.

However, this year he had a strategy that was foolproof. He was going to force his employees to play. His rationale was that sometimes, you find a hidden gem so if he forced them to play (if they refused, they would be fired) then he could locate all the talent and make an awesome team. His second action was even more brilliant (and um, also more controversial) - he was going to import immigrant workers, mainly from Mexico and Latin America along with some Japanese speedsters to work for him (and hence play on his stacked team). That way, he could save on his wages and improve his softball team. It was an absolutely hilarious show - I truly believe that the whole employer was made up. There's no way that someone could be that much of a jerk. One of his employees even called in and said she was filing a human rights lawsuit. She was a diabetic overweight woman and he threated to fire her because she couldn't hit the ball hard enough. Of course, he had the stereotypical Pakistani accent and it sounded so made up. The whole show was a complete joke (and it was pretty funny to hear how outrageously jerk-ish he was) that they claimed was real.

Then I thought of how sometimes, other people on the outside listening and watching some of the CCSA leaders haggle and argue as well as tear each other apart - in our Christian league no less. Perhaps we may sound just as ridiculous and outlandish in God's eyes.
