Work... Well, like my past years, looks like as work consumes my life, it will also be the devotion of this blog. So we'll start with yesterday. I woke up with a "Hi, you got the job. Can you come in this afternoon and start?" A few hours later, I was starting the training. It's actually pretty cool since everyone was super nice to me. Since I was a recruiter in HR and would be doing the same job as the trainers, they were extra nice to me. Afterwards, they even took me out specially out to the rides to ride them while no one else could before the park even opened. Today was so hectic. I was imagining a full day of formal training and just learning the ropes. Instead, they had booked me interviews and by the afternoon, I had a full lineup of interviews that I needed to do. I stayed till 9pm doing interviews and finally left dead tired. I think I also set a record for most number of declined interviews (meaning they didn't get the job), maybe 'cause I'm strict? I kind of realized it's weird how in less than 5 minutes (I leave the room for less than five minutes to make a decision whether they are hired or not), I can make or break the summer plans and happiness of a person. That's actually kind of scary. The other recruiters told me that after a while of saying "no", you get desensitized to it. I certainly hope not. They taught me to make it short and sweet. Off to bed, just got back a little while ago. Have to get up 7ish tommorrow morning. Did I mention I'm dead tired?!! posted by jamescl | 11:02 PM
